Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said his country expects beneficial terms for the export of dairy products to Russia, and reiterated that the commodity exchange between the two countries is recording a growth.
Speaking at a joint press conference with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Palace of Serbia on October 16, Vucic said the Serbian government has not and will not impose sanctions on Russia, and pointed out that our country has shown to be a friend of Russia even in these difficult moments.
For his part, Putin said that the trade and economic relations between the two countries are developing very well. He repeated that Serbia can take advantage of this favourable moment to increase exports of agricultural products to Russia, and highlighted agriculture as an area with great prospects for cooperation.
If the agreements signed today are implemented, then the export of Serbian products can increase from $130 million to $500 million in a very short time, Putin said.
According to Putin, this is beneficial for the Serbian economy, it will create jobs, but it is also useful for Russia.
Putin said that he spoke on October 16 with Serbian officials about the development of the Serbian agricultural sector together with producers from Russia and the Western Europe.
Meanwhile, Vucic expressed gratitude to Russia for the humanitarian assistance that is sent to his country during the devastating floods in May this year.
He also said that Serbia will not give up its path towards the EU and thanked “Russia for not putting pressure on our country regarding this issue and for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia”.
He pointed out that Serbia and Russia will resolve all issues in the field of energy in a partnership mode.
Vucic confirmed that Putin accepted his petition for export to Russia of a number of Fiat vehicles produced in Kragujevac.
