Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz on Monday said Austria supported Albania in its path towards the European Union (EU), according to media reports.
During a meeting with Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati, who is on an official visit to Austria, Kurz said his country would support Albania in obtaining the official status as a candidate country for the European Union.
The two leaders addressed issues relating to the advancement of Albania's European agenda, the importance of obtaining the EU candidate country status, as well as latest developments in the region and international issues.
The ministers focused on the latest developments in Ukraine in the framework of the Council of Europe ministerial meeting which is being held in Vienna.
Kurz and Bushati also discussed intensifying cooperation, especially in the field of justice, banking systems, energy and tourism.
Bushati underlined the Albanian government's will and commitment to continue its constructive role as a NATO member.
