Iran and Azerbaijan have signed deals to build a hydroelectric plant and boost environmental and athletic cooperation.
The agreements came during a one-day visit Wednesday to Iran by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev. Iranian state television said the deal also includes cooperation between the two nations on unexpected natural disasters. Financial terms and other details were not disclosed.
Aliyev told a news conference in Tehran that he has invited Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to visit his country.
Relations between Iran and Azerbaijan were strained under Iran's former hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over regional policies. Rouhani has been seeking to mend ties with its neighbors, including Azerbaijan, since taking office.
