Commission spokesperson Joe Hennon announced his participation in Folk for the People, a compilation album bringing together 35 folk artists and bands in order to raise money for the victims of the Maidan protests in Ukraine.

The album can be downloaded for 10 euros here. All proceeds will go to EuromaidanSOS, which aims to support the families of those killed in the Maidan protests and honor the people who lost their lives. The organization hopes to use these funds to create a list of the people killed and injured at Maidan, offer a "social passport" to families of those killed or injured and provide individual support to these families.

Mich Rozek, the drummer for Belgian folk band Rastaban, with ancestors from Ukraine, started the project, which brings together artists from Europe and Canada. Each artist or band donated a song to the compilation album.

"There's no political motivation behind our intentions with this project," Hennon said in an email. "Only a call for tolerance and diversity as basic values against injustice."
